Making Maghrib Magic Mindset November 25, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — teachertamara @ 12:57 am

A dear sister recently emailed me asking me for advice about keeping up with her salat.  Here is a technique that I have used and have coached with before that has seen wonderful results.

I like to call this one a making maghrib magic mindset for fun.  Just like lots of us have these mp3 players we also can have our “m4″ for our prayers.

If making salat on time has ever been an issue here is a quick tip that has worked wonders for me.  I sit down and go over my prayer pattern. I see which prayer I excel in and then to apply it to all of my salat. For example, I was taught that maghrib only has a small window of time so we shouldn’t delay. Alhumdulillah, this belief is ingrained so when I pray maghrib 90% of the time I don’t mess around.

Now with isha its the opposite.  When everyone else goes to pray, I am usually in the kitchen cooking or cleaning up and I put the prayer off until later. So I have been trying to apply the ”m4″ prayer theory to my isha and so far when I do it works well.

What little tricks or tips do you have that help you keep your salaat?

Please share we all can use the blessings!

Shining out!

Setting alarms for the salawaat on my cell phone has helped. We also have athan software on the computer too.

Even with alarms, delay is still possible. When I’ve paired hearing the alarm/athan with an immediate reaction, like going immediately to make/renew wudu’, then salah flows from there.

Teach your kids to pray all the sunnah. If they guard the sunnah in this way Inshallah it will help them with the whole salah.

Masha Allaah, having the athaan player on the computer helps. Posting prayer charts is good, and just remembering that Salaah is the first thing we will be called to account on.

Jazak Allah for all of your comments hibahmac, the muslim coach and sr. baheejah. InshaAllah we will continue to add to the list more ways to help us all grow closer to our Lord.

    As Salaamu alaikum wa Rahmatullah,
Seems that we have a mutual friend. That’s how I came to know of your site, thru Umm S.
As for the question, here’s an answer that I hope will help many. A sister and I were talking about how drinking plenty of water is so beneficial to the body. You may ask, what does that have to do with the salaat? When I told her that drinking water late at night causes many to arise at night to use the bathroom, she said, then use that time to also make wudu’ , then make Qiyaamul Layl. Maa shaa Allah in that are 2 bonuses and a great reward. So, I’m trying it and by Allah it works! May Allah make our rising and our dhikr for His sake, Allahummaa aameen.

    Wa laikum As salam BlueLotus,

Hmm Umm S. lol I know many Umm Ss yet I love them all (if this is one that has a ‘mini tribe’ then she gets EXTRA love for the kiddies).
I love this idea of drinking the water, it’s right on time for Ramadan too as we need to get that fluid i at night to make sure we have the stamina to fast. I think I read that the body was like 70% water! SubhanaAllah how much of that does not get replenshised on a daily basis?
I’m currently reading this book titled “Your Body’s Many Cries For Water-You’re Not Sick You’re Thirsty” by F. Batmanghelidj M.D. and there is so much to learn about water and it’s importance in our system. I’m not against modern medication but I know we can do much more with our natural resources to help our own conditions.
    Thanks for popping by!
